In the south of Ethiopia, about 400km south of Addis Ababa, lies the home of Yirgacheffe coffees. The astonishing biodiversity in the local coffee plants has been preserved, resulting in unique, complex and sophisticated coffees which never cease to surprise. More than 90% of the people in the region are involved in coffee business. Coffee is the dominant source of income for the majority of smallholder farmers, for whom coffee is everything: it sends their children to school, buys medication, and provides the livelihoods for families.
